Construction worker killed in Ras Al Khaimah

Pakistani man hit by concrete barrier while resting inside drainage hole

A 43–year-old Pakistani worker died late Thursday afternoon after a concrete barrier fell on him while he was resting in a drainage hole in an excavated area, an official at Ras Al Khaimah police told Gulf News.
The accident occurred when a truck’s tyre burst and it crashed into the concrete barrier.
Fellow workers scampered to dig him out, but their efforts proved fruitless.
The incident was reported to Ras Al Khaimah police, who rushed to the scene and pulled the worker out.
Police said the accident took place at about 4.30pm in Al Rams area, where work on a vital road is being carry out.
The worker, identified as A.K., worked with a construction company in the emirate, and was taking rest in the hole at the time of the incident.
An official at Saqr Hospital told Gulf News that the worker was already dead when he arrived at the hospital.
A police investigation is ongoing.
