12-year-old falls to death while putting up UAE flag
Saeed Khalfan Humid Al Naiumi ignored mother's instructions and climbed on roof of Al Ain villa

Al Ain: A 12-year-old Emirati boy died on Thursday evening after
falling from the roof of his family’s villa while putting up a UAE flag
to celebrate Flag Day.
Saeed Khalfan Humid Al Naiumi, who lived in the Umm Ghafa area of Al Ain, died on the spot from a head injury.
The family has nine children, eight boys including Saeed and one girl. He was fifth eldest among his siblings.
The
victim’s aunt said Saeed spent two days busily preparing for Flag Day
and was very happy to be putting up the flag at his family’s home.
His mother told him to put the flag outside, but Saeed insisted on flying it from the roof of their two-floor villa.
The boy took a wooden chair and went up to the roof without his mother knowing.
He
succeeded in putting up the flag, but on the way down lost his balance
and fell. The impact killed him immediately, the family said.
Al Ain Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Funeral prayers will be held at Umm Ghafa mosque after Friday prayers.
