New Sharjah-Dubai slip road opens

The Dh200m slip road will help reduce traffic jams during peak hours

The road is part of the Al Badea’a project implemented by the Ministry of InfrastructureDevelopment to develop the intersection of Emirates and  Maliha roads in Sharjah.

Sharjah: A new Sharjah-Dubai slip road was opened by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development on Sunday.
The Dh200 million road will serve motorists commuting from Sharjah towards Dubai. It will help reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion, especially during peak hours.
The slip road is part of Al Badea’a project implemented by the ministry with the aim of developing the intersection of Emirates and Maliha roads in Sharjah.
Three lanes, stretching across two kilometres, have been added before the slip road to absorb more vehicles travelling from Sharjah to Dubai.
Eng Hassan Al Mansouri, Assistant Undersecretary for the ministry’s Public Works Sector, stressed the keenness of the ministry to complete the project as per the schedule.

“A third lane has been added to the slip road itself to make it three-lanes wide, and give a boost to traffic flow, particularly during peak hours,” he said.
The slip road, completed as per schedule, is one of a series of road projects. Some have already been opened and some others are under way. These will reduce traffic bottlenecks, especially with the start of the new academic year, he added.
He noted that Dr Abdullah Bin Mohammad Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, had earlier issued instructions to accelerate work on the project and complete it on time by the beginning of the academic year 2016-2017, to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce traffic jams at peak hours.
He added that the ministry’s strategy is to link Sharjah to the federal road network, thanks to the directives of the leadership to ensure a decent life for citizens and residents alike.
“The ongoing and planned infrastructure schemes will best connect all federal roads across the country and enhance security and trade movement in line with the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership.”
